DESIGN HISTORY SOCIETY

Founded in 1977, the Design History Society works nationally and internationally to promote and support the study and understanding of design history. Its activities are focused on consolidating the teaching of the subject in universities and colleges, and demonstrating the widespread cultural and economic significance of design history. The Society undertakes a range of charitable activities intended to encourage and support research and scholarship, to offer information and enable networking opportunities, to foster student participation and public recognition of the subject and to provide regional links and events. These activities include the publication of a journal and newsletter, an annual conference, prizes for research, awards for events and support for the annual Reyner Banham Memorial Lecture. Design History has provided sponsorship toward printing of the conference delegate packs.

DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL

The Dundee City Council, under The Economics Project Team co-ordinate and manage several projects including Locate Dundee and BioDundee that help to position Dundee as a modern dynamic place to locate businesses.  The Team is also responsible for co-ordinating the international trade aspects of the economic development department, including Global Digital Cities Network and the Business Gateway International Trade Tayside.  The Dundee City Council is pleased to sponsor a welcome reception hosted by the Lord Provost on Tuesday 03 July at the Caird Hall, Dundee .

SCHOOL OF DESIGN

The School of Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee, offers the Bachelor of Design (Honours) undergraduate degree in Graphic Design, Interior & Environmental Design, Jewellery & Metal Design, and Textile Design; the Master of Design taught postgraduate programme and MPhil and PhD research degrees in Design disciplines.  Research interests within the School of Design cover a wide spectrum including Healthcare Design, Strategic Design, Natural Design, Interaction Design, and Past, Present and Future Craft Practice. Design Research at the University of Dundee aims to develop new knowledge and understanding to support Design's new emergent position.  The research activities are interdisciplinary and the work is broad and varied, making use of a wide range of research methods. The Scottish Arts Council is the lead body for the funding, development and advocacy of the arts in Scotland . They offer a unique national perspective on the arts and their audiences. Their strategic leadership is underpinned by specialist knowledge and experience in the management and delivery of the arts at national and international level.   The Scottish Arts Council champions the arts of Scotland.  It is Scotland's leading funding body for the arts, distributing money from the Scottish Executive and the National Lottery.  The Scottish Arts Council has granted £10,000 towards the cost of the New Craft-Future Voices conference.

The Binks Trust is a private family charitable trust involve in philanthropy for the Arts and other charities. The Binks Trust has kindly supported the New Craft-Future Voices conference with £1,000.

 

THE TASTING ROOMS

The Tasting Rooms, inspired by Graeme Scott and David Walker, is Scotland's first and only contemporary food and wine experience centre.  Situated at 5 South Ward Road in the heart of Dundee, The Tasting Rooms offers a luxurious selection of wine and foods in the deli and caters private dinners to Dundee's corporate clientele in the glass surrounded mezzanine floor upstairs.  The Tasting Rooms are proud sponsors of the Future Voices Exhibition cocktail reception on 04 July and will be catering the lunches for delegates during the conference.
