- This is a clearly written, easily read paper with a well articulated argument.
Suggested Conference Theme: Dialogue

- Reviews current literature and gives it a contextual basis, but does not go any further; it stays within the territory of theory, bearly moving into practice ? perhaps because of a dearth of writing.
Suggested Paralle Track: Critical Engagement

- I find some difficulty with this paper because it feels relevant but it is mainly descriptive, relatively little space is given up to developing arguments and a great deal to descriptive accounts of practices. The author writes clearly but I am uncertain if the subject or its presentation will have much interest to practitioners.
My other problem is that I don?t feel qualified to judge whether the critical position adopted is sufficently original to justify inclusion.
So I would recommend that the paper be accepted if there is space for papers with a strongly critical/historical bent and at least one referee believes that the direction taken is an interesting one. If the conference intends to address mainly practitioners, I don?t detect a story here which will engage them, even though the author claims to be undertaking a practice-led PhD. That may be the problem ? attempts to theorise practice for PhD purposes can be a (misguided?) struggle and I would prefer to see some linkage with the researcher?s practice and the inquiry they are undertaking, this does not feel like part of a wider, integrated inquiry.
