A very interesting and passionately written piece, however the paper is very softly referenced and is a proposition rather than an argument. I would suggest the work is developed in relation to these two points.

Suggested Conference Theme: Critical Engagement

The abstract of this paper raised my expectations which unfortunately were not fully met. The paper is very timely, however it feels as if the research is at a very early stage, and all that has been achieved so far is determining the frame of the problem. Determining the problem however is an important step and I do feel it will make a valuable contribution to the conference. Many of the papers address the issue of language and hopefully the different views will advance our thinking and understanding on this issue. If there was however a chance for the author to address what is meant by intelligence in making that would be good. They may be interested in Pamela H Smith?s The Body of the Artisan which addresses the notion of an artisanal epistemology and how the academy has sought to supress this form of embodied knowledge.

Suggested Parallel Track: Craft Intelligence
